The Emergency Management Specialist (Response) position at the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is a critical role within Region Three's Response Division. Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and deliver training for Region 3 staff and jurisdictional partners
- Evaluate emergency plans and annexes for climate and severe weather preparedness
- Conduct outreach and attend regional/national partner engagements
- Provide weather-related analysis and guidance to Region 3 leadership
- Lead severe weather, flooding, and hurricane season preparedness activities
- Participate in after-action reviews and continuous improvement processes
- Ensure integration of climate and weather preparedness in jurisdictional hurricane plans
Qualifications
- Experience in climate science and meteorology
- Familiarity with National Hurricane Center forecast products
- Knowledge of tools used for meteorological threat forecasting and preparedness
- Ability to provide planning and operational guidance on weather-related topics
- Experience in emergency management or related field
